Long press at the file in the file manager and choose copy, move to sd card

On all of my previous BB phones it was pretty easy to transfer files to the SD card but on the Z30 I have not been able to figure out how to do it some photos have been installed on it but I do not know how they got there and I want to move several files there can anyone help me on this?

On older blackberries, you might have done very much with the trackpad. Now, the action can be done with using the selection feature of BlackBerry 10 OS
To select and move several files (or select and copy or select and share)
I made a series of screen shots and moved for your understanding some selected PDF from Download folder to book folder, because I don't have a SD in my Passport. The principle remains the same.
Here are the steps:
1. Open source folder in your file manager App (a system App)

2. Open the "three dots menue" [...]-button bottom right screen corner

3. Chose to select at the bottom, this is needed to multiple select

4. Tap on each file you want, individually. You can scroll and jump files but not change folder then tap on the option to copy or move the selection

5. Browse your file explorer to select the destination folder (here you can chose SD card and one of its folder. Notice the red note that informs you that you are doing a moving file procedure

6. Type move or cancel (the right bitton is move) and the files are moved to the destination folder:
