How did I get emoticons based on my predictive keyboard?
If you have BlackBerry android find it under predictions and corrections
And if on BlackBerry 10, you'll have to set them up as shortcuts :'( or just type them out.

I have the Z10. It used to predict emojis when typing texts.
There were several not included on that emoticon page. You would just start typing, like Apple for instance, and the image would show up on the keyboard, swipe it up onto the text bar....
Perhaps it learned? I don't quite remember if it ever occurred. I used the Z series in 2013 and 2014. Long time ago.
