    Keep everything synced to Google and the cloud. No need for external backups.

    Agree... just need to go through all your apps to make sure that if they have a backup option, that you enable it.

    How do I check if an app can be backed up?

    The apps will all come back after a Google restore. The issue is whether each app will retain its settings or not. Some will, and some won't.

    No, but if you have bunch of pictures in there, unlock them and they will all appear in a single folder that you can move to your SD card.

    Once restored, move it back to device storage, and add them back from inside the locker.
