    I have just purchase a blackberry passport.
    I need to sync the device to my mac computer (to pick up old emails, contact, etc).

    But just to add here, you can NOT sync any emais whatsoever from the desktop client directly. The emails is ONLY synced from the email server.

    As soon as you add the email addresses to your new device the emails will populate. BlackBerry Link will also work and can be downloaded for Mac at the BlackBerry website.

    Also, haven't had much success but some say it's great. There is an app called Device Switch. Download it to both devices. Make sure both devices are connected to same WiFi. Open the app on both phones and select what you'd like to swap from one phone to the other.

    Lastly, if your old device is carrier specific and your new device is unlocked you won't get the carrier specific apps. Example: Verizon Backup Plus Contacts is only available on a Verizon activated phone...weird, I know. Good luck!
