When I first got the phone I was able to do this. After a software update the custom ringtones no longer work, even after trying to reset them. All calls come in using the default ringtone.

How i did it i just want online and downloaded an app to custom my tones

I assume you already did this but just in case.
go into contacts.
Tap on a contact.
Tap edit.
Tap the 3 dots top right.
Select set a ringtone.
If that is not it I do not know

I did that as described but the custom tones don't stick. What app are you referring to? I use Zedge for ring tones and that doesn't work either. Frustrating!!

Maybe I misunderstood the way I described always works for me so let me ask how you are putting the tones into your phone it sounds like your phone is losing them after the fact.
The method I use is to copy the tones from my computer to the phone.
Plug a USB cord into the phone and computer.
Swipe down from top of phone tap charging.
Tap file transfer.
Open " computer " on computer
Tap blackberry.
Tap internal.
Look for a folder " notifications "
Copy files there.
This should always leave the tones in place for the phone to find.
Second
Download a file manager.
Lots of people on this site like solid explorer.
I prefer ES file explorer pro the file managers will help locate where the tones are located.
In ES file you have to play the tone.
There are three dots tap that and something asking to set tones should come up.
Tap that and choices should come up.
Add ringtone, text tones, alarm.
