    If you mean change the name of the person you're texting, then name will always be the same name of the contact you associated the number with.

    If you mean change your name in other people's text messages, then you can't do it. They have to do it.

    No, I think he means in a text conversation your messages are named "me". He wants to be able to change it to "Joe", or "Bob" or whatever his name is, on his device, not the recipient's device.

    Mine don't say names...

    All I see is a small picture on the right of whatever my contact writes to me.

    On what I write there is no "Me:" or anything.

    Which version are you running?

    You can't change it, this is in 10.2.1. It isn't there in 10.3 onwards, only contact pictures show, if no contact picture then a blank picture frame will show.
