Ever since I got my Passport about 2 years ago, I haven't backed my device. So any help would be greatly appreciated, as I almost lost my phone recently. Thanks!

You will have to use a standalone back program. Link does not work in windows above 8.1. If you have side loaded on your phone with cobalts programs. Than look on the forum for the thread for backing up.

Not really true as it works fine for me with my Win 10 Laptop, Passport, Z10 and even my old Playbook. I will admit however (just look at all the threads on this subject!) that many, many people cannot get it to run period.

If you cannot get it to work with your PC, I recommend Ultimate Backup in BBW. It won't backup everything but it does take care of the most important stuff at least. It also has cloud backup or usb backup.

Very strange since windows 8.1 looks at Link as a security risk and cannot bypass it. There are hundreds of postings about the same..but as always it is windows

I am not saying that this will work for everyone, but here is my take. On your PC running Windows 10 and NO Blackberry Link or Blend etc, just plug your BB10 device into your PC . A window will pop up on your BB10 device asking you to install drivers etc. Just follow the directions on your device to download and install everything. I have done this successfully on 3 different computers, all running Windows 10. I am pretty sure others have tried this to no avail but that is how it worked for me. Summary: I let my device do the install - did not download FROM my PC. YMMV.

edit: also I have noticed that it takes an unusually long time to connect to Blackberry Link after the installation of the program on your PC. I have seen it take up to 5-7 minutes or so. I wonder if many people just give up too early at this step thinking it's not going to work.

Link is now out of date for many people but you can still use the USB drivers for Windows that come with it to connect to you PC. It might help to unistall Link and Blend and leave or re-install just the driver's.

Connect with a USB cable to your PC, then open the Windows File Explorer. Scroll down until you see your phones internal memory and SD card as drive letters. Mine used to show up as Drives Y and Z. You can make shortcuts for these to simplify the procedure next time.
