I need to get back my old messages
If they are still on your "old" device, you could do the device switch, and then send/forward the texts from "old" device to another device, and then switch device again back to your current device, and then send the texts from the "holding" device to your current device.
I don't know of another way, i.e. where and what file type to look for in a file manager....
