I downloaded password keeper last night and opened the app then shut it down without setting a new password. I didn't use the phone until this morning when I tried to unlock it, I got this screen that was asking for my device password. Naturally, I tried to input my existing 4 digit password that I had set for the device to unlock it. I did notice that I now see the full keyboard instead of the numbers keyboard.

The other thing is that the device already started my count at 5/10 attempts even though I haven't attemtped a single password entry yet. After my 10/10 attempt, the phone kept on giving me additional attempts. Eventually, the device started what it looks like the data wipe.

Eventually,it looks like the data on the phone is being wiped out. Does password keeper wipe out the entire phone data?? I am using bb10.2 on z10 t-mobile network.

If the apps deletes all the data on my phone, I am finally going to drop blackberry and go with some other device. Been a loyal customer since 2006, this will throw me over the edge.

Password keeper generally has nothing to do with you device password. However after entering a certain amount of wrong passwords into the app will delete the passwords and data stored in Password keeper.

Just so I'm clear, so you dl the app, you were or were not able to get into the device 4 digit password?

If it's your device you can't get into then yes after 10 attempts it will wipe your data. If it's password keeper you can't get into now, password keeper will delete the data in the password keeper app

I downloaded the app a couple days ago when the update came across BBW, no issue getting back into it or my device or into password keeper using my usual password for the app.

Yes, I was not able to get into my 4 digit password. The full entry keyboard showed up instead of the 0-9 keypad.

You should still be able to put in your pin using the full keyboard. I've done it plenty of times.

I have an icon that looks like a paper shredder and a rotating circle. Looks like my phone data is being wiped.

It sounds like you didn't close Password Keeper all the way. If that's the case, and you maxed out your pw attempts, its going to delete all the data inside the Password Keeper app

There is no data in the pw keeper app. Also, the phone has been wiping data for a good hour. I doubt it is only deleting data inside password keep

I just recreated your situation and as you can see I'm back in my phone. Password keeper alone should not have wiped your phone. I'm using that app as well. If you sideload apps is your pin the same if and when you connect to a computer?

These are exactly the same screens that I got. I tried entering "blackberry" as the app suggested. I also put in my 4 digit pin on a couple of attempts.. I also put in my bbid password. None of them worked.

Just so I fully understand, did your 4 digit pin unlock the device?

Unfortunately thats what it looks like. Im sorry that happened to you and i can understand your frustration (been there before) but i'm around other platforms on a daily basis for my job. They might have the hardware but bb10 feels so much more intuitive than the other platforms. I'm not sure what exactly happened to get you were you currently are with your z10 and i wish i could have helped you more.

it's showing bb error bb10-0015. System file error. I basically have to reinstall bb10 on this phone. This really is the last straw for me.

a while ago. I reloaded the OS. Re-setting up my emails etc etc. My pictures should have been saved on my removable SD card. I did remove it from the phone so hopefully the wipe did not clean it up as well.

re-installed all the apps - my pictures were saved on the SD card so those stayed intact (dodged a bullet there - phew!). reconnected to linkedin, facebook, twitter and all my email accounts. Minor losses like pictures and files received on whatsapp. all in all, this didn't come as bad as I thought it would be.
