I don't think you can do anything other than let the phone finish the security wipe it is doing right now.

That's the symbol for a security wipe. The phone is being nuked, and reset to factory settings.

I don't know how in the world you managed to initiate that without the two stage process that it normally requires.

At this point, you just have to let it continue. It could take half an hour, btw.

Also, for future reference, do not do battery pulls on a bb10 device. Improperly shutting down first can corrupt the device.

    Impossible. Sorry.

In the future, use an sd card (which does not get erased in a security wipe), and sync your camera photos to the cloud as you take them. BB10 supports this feature with Box.

I feel your pain. Although, to be fair, crap happens on every platform. If you had simply lost or broken your phone you'd be in the same spot.

BlackBerry provides options to mitigate this type of event (as I listed above in my previous post) which not all other platforms do.

If your device memory is full it can take more than an hour for the security wipe to complete. If you don't want a completely broken device you must wait patiently for it to finish what it is doing.

After your Z10 reboots and you finished setting it up I advise you to use BlackBerry Link (Preferences > Reload Device Software ) to reload the operating system one more time because when you did the battery pull it is possible that some data on the phone ended up corrupted.

BlackBerry Link downloads a fresh copy of the operating system from BlackBerry servers, so you will be assured that you will have an error free system on your phone.

Reloading an OS through link can take a while. It needs to download 2gb worth of stuff. Maybe an hour total. Then you'll have to download your apps again and set up your phone from scratch.

Really wish LINK would allow scheduled Backup via Wi-Fi.

But at least it does do syncing via Wi-Fi... so in the future look at setting this feature up. Along with using the SD Card to store media files. Also there are some Cloud Apps that will sync some media content - depending on how much storage they give and how much you use. And there are Backup Apps that will backup to your SD Card or even to a Cloud account - again depending on space.

You never really know when something is going to happen - but yours is an unusual case. Sorry

I'm confused. So why would a full storage phone reboot and commence a security wipe on its own? This doesn't sound right to me. Not questioning the integrity of the OP, but wouldn't the security wipe either be self-inflicted (i.e. selected through settings), or the device would have been remotely wiped through Blackberry Protect.

I haven't heard of a phone triggering a security wipe on its own, but I haven't researched it either. It would definitely upset me too if that was the case.

I've never heard or read about a spontaneous random initiation of a security wipe either.

He sounds sincere though, so I'd chalk it up to one of those freak one in a million things.

Perhaps a power surge from the laptop caused some type of corruption to the OS?
