Maybe try blowing in the hole? Could be dirty.
Has the device ever had liquid spilled on it?

Otherwise, can't think of any reason why it wouldn't work. The head phone jack is pretty sturdy.

What if there was a little little bit of a drop of water. Is it the end ?

Yup a "little little bit drop" can corrode or cause debris. Use a low pressure compressed air and try to clean contacts in port with a fine brush. Test audio with BBVE too.
A sharp pull on an audio cable is more often the culprit.
