    Hi everyone,
My boyfriend is looking into getting a new phone and upgrading to a data package for the first time. I was wondering which phone he should get. I suggested the Q10 b/c he is used to using a keypad for texting (he has a 4yo samsung - keypad only no touchscreen). Would that be a good option for someone who - by his own admission - hates technology and learning new things or should he go with some other smartphone? He says he's hated every phone he's ever had lol.

Umm.. if he doesn't want to start using touchscreen anytime soon then the Q would be perfect I guess!

Well, idk that there is necessarily an aversion to using the touchscreen, but since the keypad would be familiar, the transition would likely be less irritating/stressful

If you are here, perhaps you have a BlackBerry. If so, what do you have and has your boyfriend tried yours.

I think perhaps the Bold 9900 would be an easier upgrade for him. It has a touchscreen but also the toolbelt. He can use both to get used to the touch screen.

Your post, insinuates that he will be getting a new phone in the near future, so I think his best choice would be a Q10. It’s a good physical keyboard phone with decent battery life and has BB10. It’s going to be close to two months or maybe even four or five months before another new PKB device becomes available from BlackBerry, depending on what part of the world live in.

Don't recommend BlackBerry OS devices. They are dead meat, slow, required restarts and battery pulls.

BlackBerry Q5/Q10 could be an option or perhaps he could wait for the BlackBerry classic.

Oddly, he seems concerned about the size of the screen for online surfing Otherwise, I agree he should go with either the Bold or the Q10. I think he thinks my screen on the 9900 is too small.

This would be the best option.... Bis cuts down data whilst he'll be getting used to a touch screen and his usual keyboard
