Even when the email has gone, they still appear I have tried everything, from a reboot to turning on and off the setting, any ideas.

Are you using gmail? If you are, are those emails being labelled by gmail into a 'subfolder'? Usually, this happens when you delete an unread e-mail in the hub, which essentially results in the 'Inbox' label in Gmail being removed. However, the unread e-mail still has another label applied to it in gmail, and so BB10 has it stored in a sub folder, still showing as unread (even though you can't see it in the main hub page, which only displays the 'Inbox' gmail label by default).

If you tap on the email account icon within the hub (so that it only shows you that account), you should be able to tap on the top bar to bring up the subfolders (which correspond to the gmail labels). Check inside of those to see what's causing the notification.

Even after I've cleared them, why are the notifications still appearing my my lock screen?-img_20141006_130653.png
