I got all the way to the help me! Screen with my code but when I clear out the field at the top it won't let me type the key and I obviously don't have a virtual keyboard on a Classic. Can someone step me thru this?

You went to the Settings / About screen, typed in ESCR which launched the Diagnostic Screen, correct?
You already have the eScreen Key code, correct?
If so, within that Diagnostic Screen, you type in your code. There is no text slot or such that needs to be cleared out, just type "blindly" with the keyboard the code to access the additional Diagnostic Screen (Engineering Screen) areas. If you "typo" or have entered the wrong key, nothing will happen. When you enter the correct key, the Diagnostic Screen will expand with a total of 10 top level options, normally only has 4 or 5.
Be careful in there, very easy to perma-brick your device.
I did all of that but I have a qwerty keyboard and I can't get it to work at all.

Please post screen shot of where you are trying to enter the eScreen Key code.
Yeah and I will try to attach a screen shot but I have to blur the pin out. Work wouldn't want that public. Lol have you seen any videos on how a classic or passport does it? Some phones it says to swipe up to show the keyboard but I have a physical keyboard so i'm not sure how to do the numbers with an alt button on this help me! screen

Ignore the "swipe up to show keyboard" as, like you said, you have the physical one.
The ALT key is not counted when entering the eScreen Code as a "key press", it is just to switch between the alpha and number assign to whatever key.
Also all letters need to be entered as lower case, so no shift or caps lock.
So, for example:
- If the eScreen code you generate is - 98FF5EA9
- You would press in this order - alt 9 alt 8 f f alt 5 e a alt 9
Also, again cause it can't be said enough, be careful in the extended Diagnostic Screen - Engineering Screen as changing the wrong thing can brick your device in a very bad way.
You wont be able to recover it with a OS reset, reload, or wipe due to a eSreen error.
BTW, if you are after the old "free hotspot workaround" in the eScreen, it no longer works as of 10.3.1.xxxx.
No I have unlimited data so i'm not trying to screw up my grandfathered plan. Lol all I want to do is force my phone to search for 4G only as they don't have LTE where I'm at so I want to regain battery life

Hi did you ever get this to work on your Classic ? I have the same issue - I want to turn on hotspot roaming which is in the engineering screens but I can't get to them. I think its the same problem - when I try to type the code from the code generator, even though I press ALT before the required number, I never see the ALT box on the top right of the screen so I don't think I am typing numbers - of course its impossible to check. Thanks
Tim.
