My understanding is that support for BES5 will continue for the foreseeable future and will receive patches as needed including the infrastructure. Furthermore, no End of Life notice has been issued by BlackBerry for BES5 at this point, or even the BBOS devices.

Keep in mind that even though the BES5 and the BBOS devices are getting long in in tooth they are used extensively in highly sensitive and regulated industries around the world while generating money for BlackBerry, so ending support for these would be capitalistic suicide at this point.

If I was to guess, 'outwardly' the BES5 and legacy BlackBerry will be around for another three to four years. I would also suggest that BES5 and legacy handsets might even operate past that for specific customers but at a premium.

    Hope that helps!
