    On my BlackBerry Classic, I've changed something so that some of the icons to the left of an email that usually look like either an open or unopened envelope now look like file folders. What have I done!?!?!?!

    Sounds like you got into one of your account folders. Click the bottom left menu bars and go back to the main hub.

    I'm still in the inbox (it is an MSN account) but I noticed this after I'd been in one of the subfolders in the account. Could it have to do with the sync settings?

    It sounds like a filed message that's unread. If read & filed messages are showing, you can turn that of in Settings > Show Read Filed Messages > Off
