Got some minor water damage on my USB port that causes the phone to periodically not charge unless I reboot (the it always charge).

I bought some contact cleaner years ago for cleaning knobs on an analogue stereo system. It's mostly just alcohol from my understanding. Would it be safe to spray on the USB port and see if it cleans up any residual grime that might be causing the charging problem?

I think a better plan would be to spray some on a cloth and wipe it on the plug at the end of your USB cable, then insert and remove the plug in and out of the phone's USB port a few times.

I assume the water has long since evaporated, otherwise I'd suggest putting the phone in a warm place to dry out.

Yeah proper contact cleaner is fine, I've sprayed loads of the stuff in my computer computers ports, just let it evaporate before turning the device on
