I noticed that I have to swipe 2 times to unlock my passport. I'm new to BlackBerry and if I'm not mistaken, I used to swipe only once. Is it maybe a setting I touched without knowing or a common issue with bb10 ?

No setting, of you're new to BlackBerry you may just need some practice, it can be a tad tricky for some people, simple swipe from the bottom screen edge to about over halfway usually does it

When my Passport is on a leveled surface, it doesn't register the swipe. I've tried this numerous times. I have to pick up the device and attempt the swipe, use the power button to wake it or press the U key.

We got spoiled on the Z line with the small swipe. It doesn't work the same way on the Passport. You have to make quite a long swipe or a fast small swipe. I've since configured the power button to completely unlock the screen and the U to get to the lock screen. I'm still not used to using the power button, because I never ever used it on the Z line. Just make sure you swipe well from the bottom bezel.
