in the root location of the SD card, a new folder called "FOUND.000" is there and it contains 879 files with the files called "FILE0000.CHK" up to FILE0878.CHK.

The folder doesn't show up when connected to a PC and I can't open the files and the folder wasn't there before so should I just delete it?

This means that some old or corrupt data has been found on the card that the Operating system couldn't read correctly.
Usually means that the SD card is faulty.
I would bin it and buy another before you rely on it to keep your data and lose it.

That means some files are corrupted.
Copy your important files to a desktop and erase the SD card with your phone. Then format it and recopy your files back.

i wanted to avoid doing a "cut, move, reformat, and move back" that because i have 49.7gb of data on it (mostly music and podcasts)....what are the chances that the card is faulty? (i got the red and grey card fairly recently from a zon deal)

Even if you want to keep using your card, you will want to have a secondary backup of all that music and stuff if its important to you. Any media card will stop working sooner or later.
