I've just noticed today that the browser doesn't continue to play videos when I turn my phone off or minimize the app is that just me or is that a new feature cuz if it is i'm very unhappy with this and I have no idea why they'd do that

I'm experiencing the same problem.....VERY frustrating. Search "youtube" in the forums and you'll see some good discussions on the topic. I'm seeing more people ask the same question......

Most have solved this problem by clearing history and cache within the BB Browser. For me that didnt work and I had to reinstall my OS from an AutoLoader.

youtube changed the code on the servers and it borked background play for multiple platforms. Firefox browser on Android has the same problem. As mentioned you can do a temp workaround but the problem will come back sooner or later.

Do this: turn ON desktop mode.

    Hope it helps.

It's all youtube unfortunately. They changed something on their end which has resulted in some interesting new 'features', for example when in full screen (at least for me) I cant fast forward or rewind; previously in full screen I used to be able to fast forward ads... BlackBerry 10 makes up such a tiny percentage of the market I think what we're experiencing is just incidental instead of purposeful.
