I recently spilled a latte over my Z30 (a white one while we're at it). It effectively killed my front mic and now I basically have to put my phone on loudspeakers so that the mic on the side can pick it up. Anyone know where to get parts or get this fixed. Does BlackBerry have a service centre?? Based out of Vancouver.

Depending on how much it is to fix, you may want to just get a replacement. I have one if you need it.

Thanks for the offer, but to get a proper "diagnosis", where to send this to?

You could bring it to a cell phone repair kiosk. Not sure what they would charge though.

Agree most any repair shop can swap out part.

The tricky thing is did the coffee damage anything else.... many of these part changers, aren't going to do a full diagnosis.

AFAIK no, I heard that people have a hard time hearing me from the other end. It's definitely mic issues, and may be audio too.

You might be better of buying a Z30 brand new if that's possible

This is sort of a "known issue" with Z30's....sounds muffled, far away. We have a couple of them doing the same thing right now. The prevailing theory I've heard is that the glue holding the connectors and covers in place gets too hot, melts and clogs the mic. There are detailed instructions out there on how to fix it....do a few searches and you should find it. We haven't tried it yet ourselves.

I'm not saying it wasn't the spill.....it very well might have been.....but on the other hand, it might not be because it got wet, perhaps it was hot and melted the glue, or maybe just a coincidence. But check it out, might make your life easier.

Let me know if you can't find the info and I'll see if I can dig it back up.

    1. Liquid Ingress to mic will damage it.
    2. Most likely, you need to replace the mic. Go find be repair house, you will need correct part (mic) for replacement. The impedance matching is important for good audio. IMHO

What are some good repair houses? I can't seem to find the info as JSmith suggested.
