Hi, Why do I need to activate cellular data on BBry Dtek50 to receive MMS? Is there a special configuration for not having to activate the data? On my previous phone, I did not need to activate cellular data to receive mms.
    Thanks for your feedback.

MMS ia dependant on data to send and receive messages.

SMS is only dependant on the telephone being connected.

You will need to have data connected if you want to send/receive MMS.

    Or, use wifi.

With bbry phone, you can't send mms without data activation (and no wifi).
With the other phone, you can send mms without data activation. Try and you will see....
    Why ???

Some old prepaid phone let you send mms without doing anything. But with smart phone, you need to configure APN and have data on in order to send mms. Some carrier let you do that without an actual data plan, some are not.
May i ask what is your previous phone and which carrier?

Have you tried contact your carrier? Their customer service should be able to tell you how to setup APN and MMSC for mms sending/receiving.
For example, this is what it looks like on my phone

Yes, I have contacted my carrier, and I think my set up is correct. But, I don't understand I have to switch on data with bbry phone to send mms. With all my other phones (except bbry), I could send/receive mms, even if switch off data. Why ?
