When I receive files or image, I don't see it in my phone after exiting the file or image viewer

You haven't saved the picture yet. You can view pictures in emails but they aren't actually on your phone until you save them there. They remain as attachments only.

Do you mean from a text or bbm. It won't save to your device unless you long press and save it. It will then most likely save to your device, downloads folder.

Same with an e-mail file. You have to save it to actually have it for later use
