    Hello fellow BB users,

My BlackBerry Bold 9900 running the latest OS version has been nuked today and currently display the error message: "JVM error 517".

I have followed the steps in this crackberry thread dedicated to reloading the OS on a nuked BB (http://crackberry.com/blackberry-101-lecture-12-how-reload-operating-system-nuked-blackberry) but I encountered a problem at step 3:

Instead of showing me all the applications I can install on my BB (like shown here https://crackberry.com/sites/crackberry.com/files/u3/loaderOSoptions.png), I have nothing displayed. When I try the "Add..." button there is nothing I can add because the only files supported seems to be .alx or .ali

So I went to the BlackBerry website and retrieved the proper OS software download with the following specifications:

    "BlackBerry Handheld Software v7.1.0.921 (Multilanguage)

    Package Version:
    Consisting of:
    Software Platform:
    File name: 9900M_PBr7.1.0_rel921_PL5.1.0.230_A7.1.0.267_UTS.e xe
    File size: 241.25MB"

Once I downloaded it I launched the .exe but it showed me an error (I can't install the BB OS on my computer obviously) and since the loading OS wizard only deals with .alx or .ali I don't know what to do... Could you guys help me please?

    Thank you for your time

You install the OS to your computer, then use the app loader program as noted in the article. The loader app should be detecting that the OS is installed on your computer. There should be no need to look for any ALX files. The autoloader should be finding the OS installed, and be offering to install it onto your device. From the sound of it, you just did things out of order.

I tried again and followed each step (I installed the OS on my computer prior to opeing the apploader and reloading the OS on my BB) but the apploader wizard still doesn't recognized any OS installed on my computer...

Ok I figured it out, I had to delete the Vendor.xml file in Research In Motion/AppLoader. It was THAT simple ahah
