My wife has my old Curve 8520, which is simple and easy for her to use. The battery was draining very quickly and so we bought a replacement. The replacement doesn't seem to hold a charge any better than the old one, and I now wonder whether I've been sold a dud. The old one had a code "DC110204" and I'm speculating that the "11" in the code is the year of manufacture, since I got the phone in 2011 and I've never replaced the battery until now. The supposed new battery has a code "DC120511", making me think that it was manufactured in 2012. Am I right? Is there any way to tell?

The code on BlackBerry batteries is xxYYMMDD, so you do have a battery made in May 2012.

Not surprising that it wouldn't be as fresh as it was when new, since the Curves it fits in are ancient.
