    No, older BlackBerry devices used the full-sized sims only.

    It isn't natively compatible, but you may still be able to slide a micro SIM into the SIM slot and make it work--especially if the SIM slot is "open top" and allows you to easily push the SIM card in and out. Up until a year ago, I was using a micro SIM in a 9900 (another phone built to take full size SIM cards) without any problem.

    If you do decide to put your micro SIM in the 9700, make sure you push the card in enough that the "circuitry" on the card is touching the pins.

    I think when I had my 9700, I was using a micro to full size adapter, but it's unnecessary, IMO. The SIM card should seat on the pins just fine.
