How to backup? It doesn't support any device.
buy usb adapter and copy your files to pc.
Huh? Back up your sd card on any computer! Then you can format the sd card without losing anything

And if the card does not work in any device any longer, try to recover with a tool like e.g.:

Did you encrypt the card?
If you have a PC try running chkdsk from the command prompt or run an error check / fix on the SD card. Had similar problem in the past and that fix it.
from what phone to what phone? from a bb to another BB? or from a bb to a different platform?
Moving SD Cards to other devices can create issues. If you have the old phone can you put the card back and it still works?
As long as you didn't encrypt the card you should be able to recover most of the files using any number of data recover apps (I like Recuva).
