I like the look and feel of the BlackBerry apps, but I'm not sold on the physical Priv handset. If I bought a Nexus or something, could I download the Priv apps (keyboard / hub / calendar etc) from the App store and create a kind of hybrid? Or would I need some kind of BlackBerry runtime? Anyone tried this?

You can't download them directly from Play Store, but they do work, there's a thread on here, XDA ect

Yes, you can. The BlackBerry Launcher installed without issues on my Sony Xperia Z5.Also, BlackBerry's excellent virtual keyboard is also available to download for anyone with android 4.0 and above. Other apps such as the Calendar app also install without issues on other types of phones, but with root access.

Thanks for the help. The keyboard was my main requirement really. I'm not too confident about root access though - I'll have to do some more research on that
