    I know there is tethering, but that requires dataplan.

    It's been a few OS iterations since I tried this, but last time it wouldn't work.

    Essentially to tunnel your PC Internet to your phone you need to tether or hot spot it.

    Once you do that though your phone won't connect to wifi networks until you disconnect.
