Playbook is dead... Get over and move on.
Non-native Android code can run. Unfortunately it is limited to Gingerbread (version 2.3).
You have to convert the apk file to bar, and then sideload it.

.......well, that was helpful. Anyway, Conite is correct. Android Gingerbread 2.3 apps can be converted to .bar files (see APK to Bar Online Converter OR PlayBook .apk to .bar converter ) then must be sideloaded onto your Playbook. Unfortunately this can be a hit or miss proposition. Some apps work fine, others, not so much. It is mostly trial and error. For sideloading instructions just search Crackberry site for instructions. There are several methods used for sideloading some of which are: Using Sachesi (my preferred method), using a Plug-in in Chrome browser, or using the DDPB installer. Just do a search for any of those methods and download the appropriate program. Good luck!
There are plenty of things that can extend the life of the playbook. Some native, some paid like Stereotube and Fast browser and more are available to be sideloaded- Nobex- Kindle- videos ect. Dig into the threads, find out what works for you and enjoy a wonderful old 'well built' tablet.
I highly recommend the PlayBook charging stand which usually can be picked up for a song.

Which reminds me, I need to pick up a bluetooth headphone.
