No, older legacy BBOS devices will not run BB10....

9900 can't get past OS 7.1, so no

Blackberry OS 7.1 and under (aka Legacy OS) and BlackBerry 10 are two completely different operating systems. Yes they come out of the same company, but none of them are compatible with the other.

Would have been a very smart thing to have built the later generator BBOS devices with the ability to be upgraded... might have allowed the platform to grow by at least 10 million users over night. Especially with the way BB10 got delayed by over two years....but then they would have missed the mark on the memory anyway and it wouldn't have worked.

I'd say wait till the announcement of a new phone tomorrow, before you invest into a Z10. By now it's 2 years old and there could be something more powerful coming out soon.

If things tomorrow don't seem good, try to atleast score a Z30 then. Way better than a Z10 imo and can be gotten fairly cheap i've heard

I'm a bit disappointed about the lack of a full touch flagship in the roadmap for this year, but not completely surprised either.

Just wish they'd have atleast given an estimate at availability of the slider, would've come in handy to know. Then again, it's better that they didn't cuz that way they won't be able to miss the deadline

About the Leap? I'm not sure what to think about the Leap. Z30 is still a bit more powerful than the Leap, so I'd go with that one if I needed.

If you like keyboards, the Classic and Passport wouldn't be bad choices either, especially the Passport

Ultimately it's your choice ofcourse. I personally will be waiting to see how that slider functions, specs etc before I make my next move on what my next device will be.
