I don't know, when I use my Q5's camera to take a photo I feel the resolution sucks and it becomes worth when I do a little bit zoom, but in case of video recording, it's more than perfect.. I tried to change the resolution from settings, but I didn't even find a resolution option. Any suggestions PLZ?

The important thing with most BlackBerry cameras to make sure you've got good lighting.
As for changing the resolution, like almost every other phone, it is fixed. If you "zoom" in you are actually only cropping the image, just as if you did it after taking a full frame image.

Prefer 4:3 ratio over default 1:1 on keyboard devices. Changing ratio also changes the output photo resolution. With ratio 4:3 you get the max out of the sensor of your camera.

Also try taking your picture by hitting the spacebar instead of tapping on the screen. Seems to be steadier for me and easier for the camera to focus.

Last time I checked camera image sensors were round. I prefer leaving it at the default 1:1. That way I have the option to crop the image as I see fit later.

Take two exact photos from the same spot in both ratios and note the difference. Also note the file size. I only know my sister who keeps it at 1:1 because she doesn't have to crop it to post to instagram. Lol. I always use 4:3.

The lens and aperture are round, but the sensor is rectangular. Typically in the 4:3 aspect ratio.

Using another aspect ratio (1:1, 16:9, etc.) reduces the amount of light that hits the sensor, hence the reason those fotos have a lower MP (you're using less of the sensor for image collection/processing).

I didn't expect that. Must be that the camera image processors default to 4:3, and so BlackBerry with its non-standard screen ratio has to then crop the image to get 1:1.
