where do I find the notification so that I can get rid of the blue star on my screen?

BB notifications are red, not blue.

It's definitely a third party app. What apps do you have installed?
i am not sure at the moment, it is my daughters phone, she has photo apps, will check later what else. we have gone into app world to check updates but no updates there.
It's notification of some app, it's not an update

Can you go into the top bar and click on it so that it brings up the description? When I had this in the past it was often an ad for an app by a developer with an installed app on the phone. Drive me nuts and ended in deleting then to stop the notifications.

no, bb8520 wont allow me to highlight it. I have to try and find it elsewhere in the phone
I don't mean the star itself, I mean the top bar whereby if there were emails or texts showing, it opens up the preview pane.
