Hi all, looks like the time is soon coming when I'll have to switch from my Passport to a KeyOne or similar, since BB10 is dead in the water. I have a question on application permissions though: is it possible to install the Facebook application and prevent it from accessing the contacts list on the device?

I know there is the DTEK suite, but from what I understand about it, it merely monitors applications using resources, but wouldn't prevent applications from using resources. Is that correct? I'm certainly not keen on Facebook accessing my contacts list.

Yes, Android has user-assignable permissions. The app will request permissions upon first launch, but I believe you can adjust them prior to launch as well.

Note: some apps may not launch with certain permissions restricted, but that's a different issue and will be up to the app maker to determine.

The android version of FB has a toggle for you to disallow or allow Continuous Contact Updates. Mine is set to off.
