    you can't delete BlackBerry world or its files directly from the device.. have you been rooting around in your phone via USB?

    In any event, try performing a hard reset on your phone.. press and hold both the volume up and down keys together for 30 seconds or until the phone reboots.

    Sounds like you found another way to do the hard reset (pulling the battery) the method I posted above is a little easier and a little safer but same result. And as you saw, no, you don't loose and data or contacts.
