Hello Guys,

The front Camera of my BlackBerry PRIV is not working.
The back Camera works well, but once I try to switch to the front Camera, the application freezes for few seconds, and then I closes by itself, and I get a message : "front Camera unavailable".

Please advise

Okay, there are a couple of things I suggest. Have you used bbve, BlackBerry virtual expert, to identify if the camera shows as a problem in those tests? (You'll find the app in your app drawer. )

Also, hold the power button down for 32 seconds to emulate a battery pull. Time it.

Did you check it on BlackBerry virtual expert or just 32 second reboot?

If you slide your screen open and look at the top back black piece, the camera sits behind that. Would be easy to replace if you can find the part. Just another option.

When checking the blackberry Virtual expert, the front Camera test result was that there is "an internal failure has occurred, front camera is not working"

The problem is permanent now, the front Camera is not working even after the 32s reboot.

Any suggestions?

You can replace camera if you can find the part. See my post above. The black piece that covers it will probably break if you remove it so I'd get that part too. Otherwise live without it or get a new device.

Have you tried disabling the BlackBerry camera app yet?

So, settings. Apps, BlackBerry camera , disable.

Turn phone off for a few minutes, then turn back on and go to playstore and download BlackBerry camera again.

If it doesn't work this time, then disable BlackBerry camera and from the playstore install another camera app and test it out.
