Im really frustrated with my BlackBerry passport it doesnt want to focus at all! When I press the screen to focus on that item it just wont focus the only thing that changes is the brightness. Please do help me out im loving my passport I dont want it to go to waste. I'm bothered with the camera since I have a habit taking notes using the camera.

This is an example of how I literally made it focus I still have to put my finger on the camera just for it to focus.

Which OS are you using on your Passport? There have been some improvements to the camera in some of the recent OS updates.

Passport SE's bad camera is a total disgrace.
My other BlackBerry (Z10) has a tremendous camera compared to the garbage SE camera.

    Nothing like my SE.

I'm sorry to say it, but if you can hear something rattling, it's a hardware issue: http://forums.crackberry.com/showthread.php?t=1026236

I ran into this problem last year and had to get my Passport replaced by my carrier under warranty...

I'm having the same issue here. Tried every fix I could find, but nothing seems to work. It's an AT&T passport, had for 1 year now. Camera used to work great. Strangely the front camera still works excellent, the problem is with the rear camera. I tried hard reset many times, holding the shutter button as suggested here, tested different camera settings, etc. My problem is when I try to take pics of documents, business cards, and items such as can of soda with small font lettering... everything just looks blurry no matter what setting I use. The green square box does not show up any more so I assume it's no longer auto-focusing. But even when I try to manually focus by holding the shutter button, it still won't work... pics still look blurry. Any suggestions? I'm running OS 10.3.2.556 which my phone say its the latest OS. I'm not sure if this issue started after the update a few months ago I believe. About to buy another phone because like the OP I have a habit of taking pics of notes.

You are still NOT giving us your OS version completely. Is it 10.3.2.2876? There has been at least one and maybe 2 versions since the original that have made improvements. Maybe it will not cure your problem but at least you could update your OS if it is on a lower version of 10.3.2.

Again, this is an older version. You may have to use an autoloader to get an update.

10.3.2.2836. I tried using autoloader with my BlackBerry z30 the autoloader was not working well for me. And if I use autoloader what are the risks? Can I still go back to my old os if ever that happens?

Well. 2836 is the latest so if you have that then maybe you do have a hardware problem. Yes you can revert back to an earlier OS by using another autoloader. Be aware that there is a limit as to how far back you can go due to Blackberry Protect. I forget which version that is but you can search on CB for that. Maybe try 10.3.2.2813 just to avoid the ART hassle. My Passport camera is very good IMHO. Not Priv good but I am happy with it.

Go to your near BlackBerry service center. And you need to pay $$ to solve this problem.

My back camera on Passport has the same issue, doesn't want to focus each time. I tap on back camera and it will then focus. I don't know if it's stuck or if a software update will fix this. I am on 10.3.2.2474. Front camera works great, and when the back one focuses properly, the pics are perfect. But then that stops, and it's frustrating.

Where did u get ur unit? If u bought from an authorized dealer, im sure ur unit will be taken care of whether the same is already out of warranty. Of course you have to pay the corresponding charges if already outside of warranty. I have same problem with my passport but it was taken care of by MemoExpress where I bought my unit. I understand MemoExpress is the only authorized dealer of BBs in the Phils. With or outside of warranty, ur unit will be taken care by the authorized dealer. That is your protection from a legitimate dealer.

Havent heard of authorized service center other than MemoEx. Just make a try. In my experience, my Passport unit was sent to the next level in BlackBerry Singapore for solution with a 45day waiting time. The good thing though,MemoEx lent to me a service unit while my Passport was undergoing repair. So satisfied with the service. My unit looks brand new after the repair.
