I have just taken a new job where security protocols prevent management employees from using the employer provided desktops to access the internet, email, etc & I need to access my email and the internet a couple of times per day. I am not the least technologically adept and do not even have a so-called "smart phone"; only a basic cell phone with texting. My new coworkers say the solution to my problem is a "smart phone". Challenge/Issue: I positively hate "screen touch" keyboards. I've used Blackberry type keyboards in the past and would like to get one. Further challenge/issue: I provided my entire family cell service with VerizonWireless & most Blackberrys are not verizon compatible. However, folks at the Verizon store said that there are indeed certain (early?) Blackberry models that are compatible with VerizonWireless service. Can anyone tell we which models #'s those are? Any other suggestions/advice/warnings? Thanks in advance for all your help.

Verizon only accepts Verizon issued phones on their service. Since you want a BlackBerry and hate touch screens check out the Classic.

Verizon's BB10 lineup is as such:

    BlackBerry Classic:
    • SQC100-3
    • SQC100-5 (the same as above, but without any cameras)

    BlackBerry Q10:
    • SQN100-2

    BlackBerry Z30:
    • STA100-3 (no physical keyboard, though)

That said, the Classic SQC100-3 is your best bet.

Take a look at posts by "Raino". He has provided a lot of good information on model numbers, which frequency bands they use and hence what works for each carrier (including Verizon). I believe there is also a link in his signature.

I guess you need to choose which model you like (z30, classic, passport, etc) and then check the applicable list.
