Can anyone answer the question in regards to the differences in the Classic SQC100 versions? I need to buy a couple and I think my last was a SQC100-4. I can get a deal on a new 100-1, but don't know if there were bugs that needed ironing out.

Logically, a 100-2,3, or 4 would seem to be better.
Also, I think some vary from carrier to carrier. I am using Telus in Canada, and I know that a Verizon Classic Q20 is not compatible.

So, are the -1,2,3,4 numbers just for Carrier compatibility, or is there more to it?

    Thanks.

Yes. Many BlackBerry phones were sold as separate models with different frequency bands for different markets around the world.

So, you need to match the model with the carrier you plan to use it on.

SQC100-1 and -4 are officially supported by Telus (in terms of OTA updates). Although the -1 is problematic for network compatibility.

You really need to stick to the -4.

Yeah, so far that is what I have been doing. Both the Classic and Passports have been working well with the -4 variant.

Passports are different as they all support the same network frequencies.

Oh. Then why the -1, 2, 3, 4 variants then?

-1 is the original model, -3 is the AT&T -branded model, and -4 is the Silver Edition.

The -2 was supposed to be the CDMA version, but it never saw the light of day.

    Thanks Conite.
BTW - my original Passport (square black) phones are all the -4 variant.

    I've never seen a black -4.

    Where did you buy them?

Oops! I mixed up our Classics. You are correct, our Passports are indeed -1.
