You should be ok to make calls until 3G is shutdown in your area.
When the 3G is shut down can the phone be used for emails only ?
Data only, assuming you have the matching 4G/LTE bands currently used by your network.
So data means emails but no text. I was informed 11/11 is the AT&T official shutdown of the 3G but hoping to just use my Classic for emails only
Classic is 4G LTE
Let’s hope that there’s a new classic type coming from the new developer ; assuming they are still going to launch a phone
Which is only for data on that phpne. Calls and text still go over 3G, and that's what AT&T is shutting down next Feb.
Not sure what November is about.
AT&T's official 3G shutdown date is Feb 2022. Has been for over a year.
Other than AT&T wants all non-whitelisted phones (including every BB10 phone, and many other phones that are not BlackBerry) off the network and using compatible phones before the shutdown.
Edit: Just re-read the AT&T article about the shutdown. The sentence says: "the 3G shutdown should be completed by February of 2022".
So, they're in the process of shutting it down now. Maybe the November date you get is when it's going off in your area.
Nothing is coming.
Time to move on to supported phones if you want to stay with AT&T.
Redundant post. Deleted.
As is most our conversations these days....
Well at least that's honest
AT&T hasn't made it clear if they're going to allow you to keep the account since it's a "phone" line and the IMEI system is designed to kick off non-compliant phones regardless of whether you're ok with being data only. I believe it's due to 911 compliance.
