You need your phone to be managed by a BES10 server in order to have access to BlackBerry Balance.

I got bes cloud it's 20$ a year per device. The only way to make use of the work email is to have an active sync account which I do.

I'm interested in BES 10 Cloud as well. In your previous post you mentioned that you pay $20 per device. In this one you mention it's free until March then $20 per device. Just looking for some clarification on which one it is.

Nice and Thank-you. How have you found your experience with BES Cloud and what has been the best feature you've added to your BB10 device?

Currently weighing my options with BES 10. Torn between hosting myself for the 1-500 device range or using this Cloud option.

It's simple and that fact you don't need a server is great. You can manage your phones anywhere from any device.
I love the balance features and keeping my work and personal stuff completely separated.

That's great to hear and the fact that you can manage it anywhere sounds optimal. I believe it's web based right? If so I wonder how it would perform through the BlackBerry 10 browser via HDMI or Miracast.

Wow... so interesting. I want to try out Balance and this seems like the easiest way to do it. I wonder if I can mange all my home phones this way... (a great idea for BlackBerry).

I never got a chance to play with BES so this cloud preview is a great eye opener. It is a bit too hard for home use, but this beat setting up servers for small/medium sized businesses. I was able to get this far in like 5 minutes.

This seems like a fool proof way for Blackberry to get end users involved! Aside from utilizing the Balance feature seeing as my current employer does not provide a serious work device, my question would be does this service also add a level of security typical to that of BES10??

My company dropped BlackBerry and gave me a IPhone. So I decided to go this route I use my company owned active sync email added it to by Bes cloud and bam I am in biz. I wiped the iPhone and put it back in the box.

I signed up for the BES10 Cloud Market Preview the same as igotberryfever did. To be honest, unless you are in a corporate environment with tight control, I don't see a huge benefit. If you are an individual or a small business you probably don't have specific corporate based apps that need to be secured; the email works in a very similar manner; and there are ways you can separate/sort work and personal emails/contacts/calendars without balance. It does create a second password protected area of the phone, although you could just password protect the whole phone. And, it does give you remote management features, but the main ones are still accessible through BB Protect for non-BES10 users.

That being said, I do not mean to discourage anyone from trying it. Seriously, sing up and give it a go if you think you are up for it. There is no better way to find out what it is all about. It does require an ActiveSync email account, although you can just use an Outlook.com account.

...I'm playing around with this now...I like the idea of it...but have no idea how to set it up, but I can't seem to add a device...does it need email access on the PC that it's set up on?

It needs to have an email account that supports ActiveSync directly linked to it. An Outlook.com account will suffice for testing if you don't have one.

From what I've been reading Gmail no longer supports ActiveSync.

Looks as though I may need to setup an Outlook email to try it out.

    Can anyone confirm this?

You do not need a active sync email to set it up. You do need to set up a junk email address and use that as your activation email. Then when you go to set that email up in the phone it activates it for bes.
