Hey...I am planning to buy a Blackberry Android (Mostly Dtek 50 or Dtek60) in Germany. When I checked the prices in Shopbb.de, its 379 and in Saturn & Media Markt, its 279. So I obviously prefer buying it from Saturn or Media Markt coz of price.

But since I have never purchased a phone and especially a blackberry android, I have doubts about Monthly update. Will these phones be treated as carrier locker or unlocked? Will monthly updates come same time or almost same as Shopbb purchases? Lastly, how dependable their service is when faced with some hardware issues?

Carrier locked means they approve updates... you'd want to ask others using Android phones how often they get updates.

I wanted to know specifically about BlackBerry android series since that is what I am planning to buy. And as u said, I am wondering if saturn and media market act as carriers in software release or they are just retailers. And also want to know how quick they receive monthly updates from BB.

I will post my experience with a DTEK 50, I got it last September from BlackBerry Shop online, at the release price. It was unlocked, as I had to put my sim on with the carrier I already had. Since then, software updates were regularly released OTA at least once a month. As far as I know, big retailers does not provide assistance, in some cases (reported by the papers and social networks in Italy), they may even charge you for small interventions, such as phone internet configuration. My advice is to buy an unlocked phone, unless your contact has particular features, i.e. you may change your phone yearly and this is included in you monthly subscription fee. Please check what your contract allows you to do and enjoy!

As far as I believe, saturn and mediamarkt are just retailers. But I don't know how the software updates are being delivered to it!

You get phone software updates over the air, and you download them after they notice their availability via message. It is better to do this with a wi-fi connection
