I found out today that blackberry will cease all support for BlackBerry ios come the end of 2019, does anyone know what this means exactly will my passport simply stop working, will my emails and texting still work?

Emails and texts will still work most likely. You have 2 years to figure it out.

email and SMS will still work. Apps that need external services and compatibility will degrade but that is nothing new. The biggest change will be Blackberry World after 2019 as it will close.

so to be clear, as it seems no one is addressing if the million + phones worldwide will work after 2019? Meaning if for example we are just using the phones for emails, text will the BB10 continue to operator or the entire phone just shuts down?

The phone won't just shut down. You will be able to call and text and more. There are lots of phones in use that manufacturers don't support and have gone EOL.

That's what I thought. I can't imagine all the millions of customers worldwide India, Africa and US using Boles, Classica and Q10's and then the phone just die off.

There are just over a million BB10 users today. In two years, I doubt there'd be more than a hundred thousand diehards left.

Great thanks for responses I understand a bit better what will be happening now, so in effect it's the apps that will no longer work after 2019 is this correct, and is this the same principle for what's app after 2017, the app will still work but will get no more updates?

So, if the AppWorld will close, can we still ship native apps - in another way?

Should there be any developers left on the platform by 2020, they can put up bar files for apps and users can install them with tools like Sachesi/DBBTool/etc.

My wife's oldtime Android 2.3 HTC still works well for calls, sms and email. It has even a few games. Don't panic!

I will have a couple BB10 devices without any doubt.
