    It's known that they are not safe and everything but since BlackBerry is one of the most secure mobile phones out there. Does it make it secure enough to use e.g. on a cafe's wi-fi or hotel's one ? I googled for some information about it, but I could only find something saying that PB is alright to use this way. Are BB OS 10 smartphones as well ?

    Only if you are using a VPN that is trusted by you.
    Other than that I believe that you are in a deep dark hole if you connect to unknown hot spots.
    It might be difficult to "hit" you but they will definitely be able to intercept all the unencrypted data you send/receive via the hot spot.
