Did you used to have BBM on an Android or iPhone? if so, you must create a new BBID in order to use BBM again on your Q10.

I get an "error in subscribing message" when I try to join a channel.

Sadly, BBM channels are gone for BB10 users. You can chat, voice and video call with other BB10 users, but no more channels.

No problem. The past 8 months or so have seen major changes to BBM for BB10 users, starting with the move of the Android BBM servers to Emtek in Indonesia. The upgrades and new features being rolled out to Android BBM aren't cross-platform anymore, and also aren't that great for Android users who want to keep chatting with friends who use BB10 either.
