Since 2015 I've had a Blackberry Classic, which I've got on with well. With the phone now beginning to age, I'm now noticing a distinct deterioration in battery life. *
    *
Obviously the Classic has a non-removable battery, and I certainly wouldn't dream of trying a DIY battery change myself. * I am however wondering whether it would be possible for a specialist to change its battery for me. *
    *
Some time ago, to guard against the risk of loss or damage to my Classic, I decided to buy a spare one - but made what might have been the mistake of buying one from a cheap retailer via E-bay or Amazon (I forget which). * I only much later (recently!) discovered that the phone was a USA-spec one which, though unlocked, seems not to work properly on my GB network‎ (EE). *

I have however wondered whether it might be possible to cannibalise the battery out of this spare (US-spec) Classic and install it in my existing phone. * Needless to say, being over 2 years old my Classic is well out of warranty, so I'm not concerned about any issues of voiding it. **

Any advice? As I say I wouldn't want to attempt it myself and would only want the swap done by a reputable specialist (any GB recommendations appreciated!).

... or should I just take the plunge and get a KeyOne?

    Thanks very much!

Thanks: I'm certainly tempted. Are you a former Classic user?

    It depends what you want/need.
If you insist staying on OS10 - I would search the internet on sales for the Classic.
I have seen deals on Amazon lately that offered the Classic for 90$ - brand new.
That might be "better" than taking it apart.

But if you don't mind using Android as OS and it's all about that keyboard, I also would go KEYone.

My feeling is I'll have to use Android sooner or later, much as I suspect that in itself OS10 might be "better" as an OS: the "Betamax problem", if you're old enough to get my analogy!

Trouble is, last time I used Android it felt half-made and a bit of a mess compared with BB OS7, let alone 10!

Yeah, I understand the "betamax problem" and it's a pretty good analogy with that.

Same with me, I'm still on OS10 and refuse to go Android.
I'd rather go iOS over Android just because of the OS (and it's privacy) itself.
    I'm not a big app user, more a "communication-guy" (messenger) - that's all I need.
Also the fragmentation with Android is just horrible.

But yeah, it's a topic on itself.

But even being a hardcore BlackBerry-fanboy for +11years, I honestly think the time of BBOS is over and I thinking for first time ever to switch to the other fruit.

As long as WhatsApp keeps working (which is now extended to Dec. '17) - I'm glad that I'm able to stick a bit longer with my Passport SE (which is my absolute "dream-berry").

Aye, fair comments! For me the keyboard is a non-negotiable, and as I gather the KeyOne, like the Passport, has a passable substitute for a trackpad, that would help.

    Thanks!
