No. Android apps are designed to run processes and services in the background or they are not. The BlackBerry Android Runtime allows it, to ensure compatibility.

To maximize on battery life or remove apps running in the background I go to my Device Monitor, select CPU and close all the apps that don't need to be running. You'll be surprised what you'll find in there. Good luck!

True, but Android processes and services are designed to start up again by themselves.

That's right. It may be premature to draw conclusion just 20h have passed, but disabling access of apps like Amazon Appstore to minimised mode seem to have solved my issues with battery life of BlackBerry Passport silver running latest OS. You can edit access to minimised mode from application to application by going to Application permissions under the link in App Manager (Settings).

It's a combo of things I do to minimize the battery drain: use of Devive Monitor and Apps permissions; at least, where theyll allow me to change the settings.

Please try this for BlackBerry 10.

Download cobalt's BlackBerry Google ID app, access Android App permissions, and disable what you don't need/want. Retracting 'Post notification' permissions could for example keep some apps from starting up in the background.
