First off, I'm a huge BB fanboy. I've had BB phones for over 10 years!

So here's where I'm at: several apps on my Passport have been upgraded beyond the BB 10 runtime ability... my local bank, Chase bank, Uber, etc... Apps that my new job needs me to use don't run at all. I've Cobolt'd as many as I could, and tried all the apk tricks. I think I'm at a crossroads.

Buying an unlocked BB phone is (financially) not an option. Leaving BB is a huge blow to my pride, buy I'm running out of options. I thought about buying an ipod, hot spotting it to my Passport and using ios apps to get me by.

So... what do you folks think? Have I missed any other options?

    Thanks in advance!

I'm a huge fan also and clinging to my Passport. Sometimes older versions of the android app APKs work better. For example skype 4.9 works perfectly.

The sad truth is it will only get worse. If it's affecting your job performance you should seriously look at other options. I plan to give the K1 a try.

If the Passport is incapable of fulfilling the needs of your job, then you'd have to switch platforms. No way around that.

Sounds like the new KEYone (May 31 release in North America) would suit you well. It has a capacitive physical keyboard like the Passport does, and it runs the latest Android with monthly updates, so your apps should continue to run as they evolve. It also comes with the BlackBerry Hub installed as an app, so you can make it look & feel like your PassPort.

PS: Check with your carrier to see if they'll be selling or supporting the KEYone before buying, though.

I moved from a Classic to PRIV for exactly this reason.

The hot-spot idea has some merit, if clunky - I have done that for remote access to support systems while on vacation.

On the dying BB10 platform, app gap is no longer the only issue.

I am experiencing random resets on my PP-SE since a few weeks - device resets once every couple of days.

Some members have hardware issues, so don't be surprised if BB10 devices are worse off in performance compared to Android / iOS platform at this point in time!
