BlackBerry removed it. One of the things they have done to copy other phones

Crap, crap, crap. That was one of the best features of the camera app. They going to delete the hub next to mimic other phones?

They didn't do it to mimic other phones. They did it so that newer features such as taking a video from startup, taking pictures while taking a video, and being able to switch the camera all without opening the menu at the right can be possible.

How so? If you wanted to take a photo, just hit the button or press the volume rockers. The only difference is that you aim where you tap.

Yup, but you know, I'm old. When I try to press to volume rockers, I accidentally shake the phone and cause the photos taken become blur.

But when I use to hit the button, and at the meantime I wanted to put focus on certain area, it is difficult for me to do that. The pictures tend to go blur.

The best method for me is the anywhere touch, I can hold and grab the phone steadily while just move my thumb over the screen to tap and capture photos precisely.

I wish I could have the option of both. On ski lifts or in situations where dropping a phone might be possible it was nice to be able to have a better grip and slide a finger on the screen to take a pic. I don't need to be doing multiple things at this time either just simple point and shoot. Other times when you have time to fiddle with settings the button is useful.
I'd just like to be able to switch depending on use situation.

I am using a Q10. The hard key spacebar at the bottom works as a picture taking button too. Maybe all the bb10 phones with keyboard have this function. Which phone are you using?
