I'm moving back to Japan and want to buy a unlocked Passport before I move. Has anyone heard of or has anyone used a Passport while in Japan. I was using NTT Docomo and will use them again. I've seen on BlackBerry website that the Passport supports some Docomo bands but want to know for sure before I drop the $'s on the handset.

I will be transitting through NRT today and can let you know what I find. I can tell you that device has been crappy in HKG. Been there many times without issues on previous Z10... but horrible on this first trip with Passport... constantly getting kicked off data networks for hours at a time.

Yes, I know of two people using it on DoCoMo, and getting LTE: one, and two.

But keep in mind, DoCoMo uses a bunch of LTE and UMTS bands, and that not all of them are present in the Passport.

Raino, what are your people telling you on data speeds while on LTE?

Latched onto full 5 bars of LTE (SoftBank) shortly after landing Narita.

Thank you, I'm looking forward to using the Passport. Too bad Verizon doesn't have it or will be putting it out anytime soon.

BBM worked fine, though I didn't try BBM voice.
